Do we need a Plumber?

Ok, So, I love my ring. LOVE my ring! I can't stop looking at it. In fact, I'm kind of upset that I had been wearing the fake ring for work because the whole concept of something on my finger is not as new as it should be.
Anyway, I had measured my fingers to see the right size, but you have to understand, I have very small fingers (I will say though, that the jeweler that measured my fingers said I should be a hand model...hmm. Matt said I could make us rich with my hands, or maybe not!) So, Matt got me the size I told him, but the ring is a little too big. I tried to just wrap it with scotch tape (as I had done with the fake rings), but Matt thought that looks like trailer trash (which I will admit, it does). So, the jeweler who got us the ring suggested a ring guard. Anyway, it leaves a little gap between the ring and the guard, but it really makes it fit.
So, yesterday I was in the shower and I got soap between the ring guard and the ring. So, I took the ring off to try to get the soap off. Well, the ring slipped out of my hand, and fell. Yes, it slid down the side of the tub. It was like slow motion. It was slipping, s.l.i.p.p.i.n.g, s...l...i...pp...i...n...g, down the side of the tub, RiGhT dOwN tHe DrAiN. Yes, my ring went down the drain. I immediately turned off the water, but I couldnt get the ring. I could not figure out how to get the drain out. So, I jumped out of the shower, grabbed something to put on, and ran out of the bathroom yelling for Matt. Matt is my Hero (not to mention the fact he does have a little something invested in the ring :) ) He very patiently kneeled in the tub to look for the ring. I was about to lose it (my mind that is, the ring was already lost). I was starting to cry.
Matt asked me to get a hanger, and luckily he was able to get the ring. I kept telling him I was sorry but he didnt even get mad. He very patiently got up from his knees, held the ring out to me and said (in his cute southern accent):
"Now Jami, I'm only gonna say this once, but this is a very expensive ring. You need to be very careful". Then he gave me a hug and told me he wasnt mad. So, needless to say, the ring spent the remainder of the shower on the counter and I realized how lucky I am to be marrying a very patient man.

Seashells in The Desert?

Ok, So it is official. Matt and I are engaged. Because there are two sides to every story, I am going to tell you what Matt says happened, with a few interjections from me. He flew here yesterday from Florida, and I picked him up from the airport. We went to lunch with my Mom, Grandma, Nicole, DeeAnn, Addi and Ellie. He passed with flying colors on the first round of "Family Approval". Then we went to my parents house and he was ambushed by the neighbors. Yes, ambushed, but he passed that round also. Then we went and had ice cream with Jana and Beckie. They were the toughest critics so far, but again he passed (sitting through an hour of girl talk is pretty amazing for any guy!) Then the ultimate test.....My DAD! The talk with my Dad actually ended up being a family discussion, with my Dad, Mom, Nicole, Matt and I. My Dad told Matt there were some things he wanted to make sure he knew. He said you can't feel good about selling a house with a water leak without telling the buyer first, so he wanted to make sure Matt knew about my leaks. Luckily, he knew and he still wanted to marry me. Phew, passed again. My Dad gave him his blessing, so off we went.
K, so this is where I have to clarify a few things before we get to Matt's version. On Monday, Matt didnt call me as he usually did, so I figured he had gone to get the ring. But, then he kept asking me to send him pictures of what I wanted. On Tuesday he told me he picked a ring, but there was no way they would have it done. But, on Thursday, he told me he changed his mind...What?? Then he asked me if we could go look at rings while he was here, so he could get a better idea. I told him that part of my life was over so he just needed to pick a ring. I was done! You have to understand, Matt tells me everything, so he totally had me thinking he didnt have a ring. I even told Nicki he couldnt be lying because he was too believable. So, I was positive I wasnt getting a ring this weekend.
So, since I was pretty sure he didnt have a ring, I kept teasing him about it all day yesterday. Even while we were having ice cream with Jana and Beckie, they were telling him he needed to practice, so he should get down on his knee, even though he didnt have a ring. He had the ring in his pocket the whole time, he was just being patient. Now, Matt says "Since she took away all my surprises (everyone in Utah knew, she already had a dress), I had to surprise her. I only had two options, either to ask her in Utah or Tallahassee. So, I had to make her think she was getting her ring in Tallahassee so I could surprise her. I am very old fashioned, so I had to ask her Dad before I proposed." Ok, so I (Jami) told him I could take him up to the Bountiful Temple because it is really pretty up there. So, we went outside and it was raining. He told me he didnt want to go up in the rain. I told him we could just go to my house and go Saturday, but he said we could drive there and see if the rain stopped. Then when we were driving he asked me if we were going to go look for a ring for him the next day. I said yes and he asked if we could maybe look at some rings for me too. That was the clincher for me. Plus, he wasnt even acting nervous, so there was absolutely no signs that he was going to propose.
Now, Matt continues "We got up there and it was raining. Jami likes the rain so it turned out quite nice that it was raining. When Jami was in Florida she loved the beach and the shells, so I figured I would bring Florida to her in Utah. I sent Jami to the back of the car to look for the umbrella while I put the ring in one of the shells and placed it strategically in the garden. The plan was for her to find the seashells and pick them up, like she did in Florida. But, it didnt turn out that way. She kept trying to walk towards the temple. I wanted her to "find" the shells. (Jami: K, in my defense, we were there to look at the temple, not the ground. Plus it was cold and wet.) She obviously had no intention, she just wanted to walk to the temple. So, I pointed and asked her what those were. I asked if they were rocks and then I said they looked like shells. Jami had zero interest in walking over there to look at the stupid shells, zero interest. So, I walked her over there thinking she might pick one up, still, zero interest. So, I picked up the smaller one, thinking she would pick up the larger one, again, zero interest. (Ok, this is what is going through my head. I was wondering first, if all of the gardens had sea shells. I looked, and nope. So then, I was wondering why some kid was playing with sea shells at the temple and if they left them there. Then, when Matt picked them up I thought he was going to steal the sea shells from the temple. Um, Matt, we are trying to keep our temple recommends, remember? Plus, if Matt was nervous, he was not showing it at all, which made me even more confused.) So, Jami's only job was to pick up the shell so she could hear the ring rattle around, and she couldnt even do that. So I said, Jami, look at that shell. I think there is something in there (At this point, I saw the bottom of the ring and I just kept asking him if he was kidding me. Then he said some cute things, that I actually can't really remember because I was too shocked, and then he got down on his knee, in the rain, and asked me to marry him. Of course I said YES! I probably would have cried, but I was so shocked, I didnt really do anything. I was shaking like a leaf.

So, I don't know if it has really sunk in yet, but we are officially engaged. The ring is beautiful. We have been trying to take pictures of it, but we are having a hard time cause it is too shiny, seriously. He put it together himself and it has everything I love in a ring. It is gorgeous! I am so lucky to have him, I still don't think I deserve him, but I couldn't be happier. I am truly happy!

Love,
Matt & Mami

FrUsTrAtInG!!!

Ok, I have to vent for a second. I started my little playlist on my blog while I was in Florida. Today I decided to add some more songs...so I did. Well, I added my songs and went back to my blog to see if it worked. I clicked on the song "Beautiful" by James Blunt and was listening to it while I did some other stuff. Well, much to my DISGUST I thought I heard the F-word. Yes, THAT F-WORD. Are you kidding me?
I thought maybe I heard it wrong, so I went back. And, sure enough, there it was again. Now, maybe it is because I live in Utah and we don't have that word on the radio station, but SeRiOuSlY? Does that song really need the F-word? I love that song, it used to be my ringtone on my phone. Now, I have lost all respect. That part of the song doesnt even need a "flippin", it doesnt need a word there, period. Not only does he add a word, but the F.dash.dash.dash word. URGGG...That really makes me mad. So, sorry if anyone happened to be on my blog and hear the vulgar language it was blaring to the world...I have repented :) I will no longer listen to that song, or grace its presence with the ringing of my cell phone. I have officially given up on James Blunt, so there.
Also, I didnt know my sister-in-law DeeAnn is helping Cami with her projects that I talked about yesterday (Here is their blog address again in case you missed it). And, since I owe DeeAnn my eternal salvation I REalLY neED to give her a ShOUt Out...So, they are being creative together. Yes, Cami had to look past her sisters, because again, we lack in the talent department.
Ok, now that I have everything off my chest I am ok...Plus Matt gets here in less than 48 hours, so I am more than ok.
Love,
Mami

Yes, there were SpArKs

Ok, so I have to post this because I am too excited. So, Matt and I are getting married. I know, you are all shocked, but it is true. I picked out my wedding dress yesterday and we are planning on a July 17th wedding date.
I don't have a ring yet because Matt has to fly out here to meet my family and ask my Dad, which he will do sometime in the next three weeks. Hopefully sooner than later. I am going back to Florida for two weeks the beginning of June, then we will get married in July. We will be living in Florida so I will look for a job there when I go in June.
We could use your prayers because I need to get a cancellation of sealing from my ex-husband, and we are hoping he cooperates. I am meeting with my bishop tomorrow to start the process of finding him and getting him to write the letter. We have been told the hard part is getting the letter, that once it is submitted to the First Presidency it is only a couple of weeks to actually get the letter for the cancellation.
We are planning on being married in the Salt Lake Temple, but if the cancellation doesnt go through we will get married civilly here and get sealed in a year. We are not planning on a reception or anything, just the wedding and a luncheon.
So, there you go. I am so happy and I have never felt so sure of anything in my life. We have no doubt we are meant to be together. I wish we lived closer and we didnt have to be so far from my family, but I know everything will work out. So, there is a quick post on my exciting news.
Love,
Mami

Go Noles!

Friday we went to the Capital The building in front is the old capital, and the tall building is the new capital. It is 22 stories high and we went to the top. The view is beautiful.

It is hard to see, but you can see all around the whole city. In some parts all you can see are trees...
Then we went up and down the elevator, jumping. It really was fun. Matt and Tyler werent really impressed, so Cherise (Matt's sister) and I did it. This picture cracks me up. See, you dont have to spend money to have fun, just give me an elevator and I'm happy!
After the capital, we went to the Junior Museum. It is like a nature walk through a zoo. It was so fun. We just walked around and saw all kinds of animals. I'm not gonna bore you with a bunch of animal pictures, but it was fun!
This was so pretty, the water looked like glass...
Then we went to a Florida State baseball game. Now, let me tell you, I flew all the way from Utah and I really wanted to go to a baseball game. Matt knew this, but he didnt get any tickets. So, we get there, and guess what, SOLD OUT! What? Oh, Matt was in the doghouse and he knew it. So, we walked around the stadium looking to see if he knew any of the cops working. Finally, somehow, he got us in. I'm not gonna say anything, but sometimes it is good to have connections!

It was so much fun! (Notice my Garnet and Gold shirt)The crowd was huge and everyone was cheering. I even did the little tomahawk thingy (the war chant). FSU sure loves their baseball! Yea for baseball, Go NoLeS!
(Dee Ann, I'm making you proud!)

St. George...In Florida?

Matt and I went to the beach yesterday. It is an island called St. George Island. It was so beautiful! We just hung out and relaxed...It was so theraeputic..no more therapy for me, I'm going to the beach!
I know, I know, you can pick yourself up off the floor now. Yes, I did actually put my foot in the water. I did even more than that, I walked in almost up to my knees. It was fReEzInG cold, but I did it. Of course I made Matt verify there were no sharks in sight :) While we were sitting on the beach we did see some dolphins. They were just swimming and playing right in front of us...Man I did not want to leave!
There were some guys sitting in front of us fishing. We saw them catch this, so I wanted to look at it. It was a baby stingray. I love to fish, and you can tell by the smile on my face that I was in heaven!
I just have to put this up cause I think its cute. This is what Matt wrote in the sand...Isnt he cute? After the beach, we went to a seafood restaurant on the beach called Angelos...I know, you are all jealous, and you should be..it was wonderful! I had fresh, raw oysters. Matt loves this picture for some reason, but you can tell the oyster is already in my mouth...YUM! We also got a dinner for two with Bulldozers (pretty much lobster), grilled shrimp, scallops, cooked oysters, crab claws (YUM!) and fried grouper, which I also loved! I think I need to live in Florida so I can have this food all of the time...Plain Grandpa, I was a good date too, I used all of the right utensils, see me with my little fork!

So, hello from beautiful florida...It's ok, you can be jealous. Look how beautiful it is..I may not come home :)

Jami...its a TURTLE

Yes, I made it to Florida. I am having a great time! Yesterday we went to Wakulla Springs. We went on a boat ride and saw TURTLES, alligators, snakes, lots of birds and some other animal that I forgot the name. It was so nice.

I have to post a couple of the pictures of the animals for my nephew Ryker, my little zookeeper. My neices and nephews would love it, so we will definitely have to bring them here!
Here are a couple of alligators. These are the biggest ones we saw

Look, its a TURTLE! There are actually eight turtles in a row on this log.

After that, we went to the lighthouse. It was incredibly windy, so we didnt stay long, but it was beautiful!
Its a LIGHTHOUSE! Anyway, it was so much fun! We went to a place called Jasmine's for some sushi, which was fabulous! Oh, and if you are wondering about the whole TURTLE and LIGHTHOUSE thing, Matt gets a little excited about things. So, its kind of an inside joke, but the turtles sure were amazing! Today we are headed to the beach. Yea!

Mami
